Ace architect and AI whisperer…
At Neolyfe we are doing something that I believe almost nobody in the world is doing, which is creating an experience in the middle. By this I mean it’s very easy to reproduce what already exists and also to jump so far into the future, but it’s incredibly difficult to create something in between because we have to connect the dots for the near-future in the upcoming years.
Hi Rolo, tell us a bit about yourself
I’ve been working in architectural 3D content for the last 20 years, specifically architecture design, commercial design in architecture and retail design. I worked for Gensler (the largest architecture firm in the world by revenue and number of architects) and for clients such as Apple and Microsoft. So I have a lot of experience in different areas, but all are related to the creation of content in terms of architecture, design of interior and exterior spaces and content for interactive platforms. Now I’m working on AI content creation and concept creation for Neolyfe.
Looks like you’re having a lot of fun using AI tools
I was one of the first architects that publicly started exploring these tools two years ago. In the beginning there were maybe only 20 people from all over the world working in AI architectural content creation. It changed my perspective in terms of the importance of AI tools in the creation of new content for new platforms such as Neolyfe, but also the importance of human involvement — reflection, analysis, knowledge and experience. Because AI tools without human involvement are just generating random concepts and images, one of my objectives with these tools is to generate solutions for virtual worlds that are in line with human needs and expectations of a prosperous future.
As a veteran in this space, what advice would you give to somebody just starting out?
At the moment I use about 20 different AI tools and combine them to produce results which are much more powerful than one single tool. So my advice would be to combine tools, explore, use your emotions, communicate thoughts that nobody has shown before and try to come up with solutions, because beauty by itself is not enough to make something valuable.
Also, your work has to have a purpose, a function, an ability to solve somebody’s problems in a virtual or physical way. Focus on the human experience, the life experience that no one else has and reflect this in the AI, because AI is like a mirror to show you what is inside.
What are you working on now?
At Neolyfe we are doing something that I believe almost nobody in the world is doing, which is creating an experience in the middle. By this I mean it’s very easy to reproduce what already exists and also to jump so far into the future, but it’s incredibly difficult to create something in between because we have to connect the dots for the near-future in the upcoming years. So it’s like jumping into the future and returning to share our talent, creativity and expertise. With this we are essentially helping people live in the future and be enthusiastic about how the future is going to be, how we can model that future for a better life experience.
What are you most looking forward to for Neolyfe in the coming weeks, months, years?
I have great expectations around Neolyfe’s sensory and immersive experience. For example, the incorporation of sound in the platform, like the sound when you enter a building, the music in the background and the social sounds when you approach a bar or restaurant. Every time I’m designing any kind of building or urban assets for Neolyfe I’m always thinking what sound is going to be to accompany it — adding a new dimension for people to feel more inside Neolyfe’s immersive experience.
Lastly, what game or talent or brand would you like to see in Neolyfe when it launches?
I would like to see a company that recognizes the AI vision, for example, Nvidia because video cards are going to be very important in terms of AI content creation and virtual world creation in the coming years.
Also artists I follow such as Eloi Andaluz Fullà, a VFX artist and 3D generalist known for Godzilla vs. Kong, Aquaman and Guardians of the Galaxy. Plus Eddie Mendoza, a concept artist now working at Apple who I’d love to see designing and creating content within Neolyfe.
