With its roots in the early days of the metaverse (early 2020s that is, kids) Neolyfe formed with the aim of rewriting the wrongs of the first decentralised virtual platforms and re-envisioning the space to be more accessible, engaging and rewarding.
As the term ‘virtual gaming world’ suggests, gaming is the focus of our efforts.
But Neolyfe is not just about the players.
We’re also building a world for creators and brand partners who want to reach and collaborate with the vast communities of Web3 gamers.
But let’s dive into how Neolyfe shapes up for all of our core user groups…
Players: From Play-to-Earn to Play-to-Earn, Own and Govern
The first gaming experience in Neolyfe is Snow Crash. It’s a thrilling alpine racing game where, in Phase 1, players will race against the clock to post the fastest times.
Top scorers on the leaderboard will earn prizes, including NFTs.
In future iterations of the game, rewards will include $LYFE tokens — the official currency of Neolyfe — wearables and collectables, as well as physical items.
And they’ll score these with enhanced game features, like multiplayer mode (to add more bash to the Crash), points for jumps and moves, and token runs (collect as many as you can in the time allotted).
But here’s where Neolyfe Web3 gaming is different from the rest.
Sure, you can play solely for tokens and other digital goodies, but ownership of these assets will resonate far beyond the slopes of Snow Crash.
NFTs (NFTs) will have influence in other games and areas of the virtual world.
Holding tokens means that you’re a minted member of the community, giving you voting rights on the big issues affecting experience and future developments.
You’ll also be able to buy land with $LYFE (or other means, it’ll be up to you) to create your own games for the community to play.
Better still, you’ll keep the bulk of rewards. Which brings us to our next type of Neolyfer…
Creators: Upgrading to a Roblox for grown-ups
The hallmark of life in centralised gaming platforms like Roblox and Fortnite is that much of the content enjoyed by players is generated by users.
The problem is, they don’t own it.
This is why we call Neolyfe ‘Roblox for grown-ups’.
We’re building an ecosystem where creators own and reap the lionshare of revenue from the games and experiences they create.
This is the essence of Web3 and user-generated content (UGC) the way it was meant to be.
Even when using the in-world Builder and AI tools to help bring your ideas to life, your creations are still your creations.
It’s been our belief from day one that a vibrant virtual world — and broader metaverse — relies upon the vision and output of the people who use it every day.
One of the big mistakes of what you might call ‘Metaverse 1.0’, led by the likes of Decentraland, The Sandbox, Somnium Space et al, was that the theme parks were built before the rides.
Neolyfe is flipping this on its head.
We want to give people a reason to come before they turn up at the front gate.
To that end, we’ll be launching a range of initiatives to incentivise creators to come into the world and get building prior to launch.
Brand Partners: New audiences, new ways to engage
No doubt advised by their agencies, brands have tended to revert to a ‘build it and they will come’ strategy when it comes to the metaverse — a tactic used to practically zero effect in the early days of the web.
The outcome of this approach has resembled a cluster of booths in an empty conference centre (with perhaps the odd avatar standing motionless in a corner).
Our approach to brand activations in the virtual space is built upon three core elements: accessibility, engagement and rewards.
What do we mean by this?
- It has to be incredibly easy for users to get in and understand what’s going on, where to go and what is expected of them.
- There must be a reason or reasons to them being there, with multiple points for interaction.
- They need to receive something for their actions — either through participation in the experience or by departing with the thing they came for in the first place.
We’re not reinventing the wheel here. This happens every day in the world of retail. And yet, it’s amazing how many have gotten it so wrong.
At Neolyfe, we measure all brand partnerships and experiences against these three criteria.
Even with relatively simple collaborations like sponsorship of a game or in-world promotions, players must be able to interact easily with the brand and have clear avenues for further engagement and rewards, including beyond virtual borders.
We’re under no illusions as to where the majority of a brand’s audience resides.
On the horizon: What’s next in Neolyfe?
So what can these three user groups expect as we close in on the end of 2024 and ride the wave into the new year?
